Bio:

Jerry McCullough (Rice HS) came up through the Gaucho Program and played alongside Rod Strickland (Truman HS) and Orlando Antigua (St. Raymond’s HS) at the Gauchos. The three were Gauchos and best friends then and today all three work together on the coaching staff at the University of South Florida (USF). Wow! What a great accomplishment! This is the epitome of what it means to be a Gaucho: Working Hard,  Playing Hard. And most recently, Jerry returns each year to NYC to host his annual charity event, City Legendz, held at the Gaucho Gym. That is the Giving Back part. Thanks for being a leader, Jerry, and for taking the time to come back and invest in the next generation of youngsters.

Now here’s a bit more about Jerry from his USF bio page:

Now in his third season as the Director of Operations for the USF men’s basketball team, Jerry came to USF after spending the previous three seasons (2011-14) as the head coach at The MacDuffie School in Granby, Mass. Under Jerry guidance, the Mustangs played a competitive schedule that earned attention and interests from many college scouts. Jerry also spent a year at his alma mater, Rice High School in New York City as an assistant coach in 2010-11 and prior to that spent a season as an assistant coach at Hostos Community College in the Bronx during the 2009-10 season.

Adding one more connection to the New York area, Jerry was a head coach for Gauchos during the 2010-11 season!

Prior to coaching, Jerry enjoyed a 13-year professional career (1996-2009), mostly in Europe. The New York native started his playing career with the New Hampshire Thunder Loons of the USBL (1996-97) and then played with Gravelines in France (1997-98), Turk Telekom in Turkey (1998-99), Sioux Falls Skyforce of the CBA (1999-2000), Quad City Thunder of the CBA (2000), Pau-Orthez in France (2000-01), Oregon Scientific Cantu in Italy (2001-03), Metis Varese in Italy (2003-04), Armani Jeans Milano in Italy (2004-05), Dynamo Saint Petersburg in Russia (2005-06), Cibona Zagreb in Croatia (2006), UNICS Kazan in Russia (2007-08) and Pistoia Basket in Italy (2008-09).

Jerry played for Pittsburgh from 1991-96, earning his undergraduate degree in 1995. He is one of the best in Panthers history, ranking 17th in career scoring (1,342), second in career steals (252) and seventh in career assists (552). McCullough ranked 12th in the NCAA in steals (70, 2.8) and 14th in assists (175, 7.0) in 1993-94. He ranked ninth in the NCAA in steals (76, 3.0) in 1995-96. The two-time All-Big East Conference performer was a finalist for AP NCAA Player of the Year in 1993-94.

In 2012, Jerry earned a master’s degree in business from Felician College in Lodi, N.J.

Jerry and his wife Heidi have three daughters, Kayla, Grace and Sophia.
