NEW RENS/GAUCHOS CREATE HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP FOR METRO AREA STUDENT-ATHLETES

The NY Renaissance and the NY Gauchos, have not merged but instead found a way to work together to help benefit the kids in and around New York City basketball. Earlier this week it was announced that a unique partnership between their history making programs had been established which according to Gauchos Boy’s Director, Book Richardson, “will dramatically change the future for countless young children and their families.”

Andy Borman, the Executive Director of the RENS added, “by combining some of the resources of both programs, we will be able to improve academic growth, school placement, stress the significance of community activism and development, and provide countless years of coaching expertise for hundreds of children.”

This partnership allows every player the opportunity to grow through already existing platforms:

Honest Game: Allows every high school student-athlete the resource to guarantee that they are meeting NCAA core curriculum requirements and ensures that they are on track to meet all college eligibility requirements
The Patch: Every player and team will wear the Orange Patch, to raise awareness on gun violence and the life-threatening epidemic which has been created in communities throughout America
Tutoring – beginning in September 2021 FREE one on one tutoring for all players via already established relationship with St. Francis College in Brooklyn
Competition – The Nike EYBL and the Made Hoops platform allow every team and player in our program to compete at the highest level. Going head to head constantly with and against the best players in the country.
Weekend Development Program – For over 30 years young players have been instructed in the fundamentals of basketball, helping to establish much needed core fundamentals and skill development
Summer Day Camp – Providing a safe and affordable relief for our community parents to place kids during the summer months and learn the valuable lessons of teamwork in basketball

Richardson said, “We’re delighted the RENS, clearly the most innovative program in recent memory approached us and can’t wait to get started.”

Borman concluded, “The Gauchos name is synonymous with the game, and we feel strongly, as they do, that ‘a ball and a book can change the world.’”
