The Weekend Review
June 10-12, 2016
This weekend the Gauchos conducted their annual March on Washington to the Maryland Invitational Tournament. The MIT as it is known is a nationally acclaimed tournament that features some of the top teams in the country. The MIT is a great measuring stick of how good we really are. So here we go.
Leading the way was our 6th grade team, led by coach Mo Hicks and his staff. Our young Choz dominated pool play with wins over: Caveman Evolution (49-16), MD Rockets (58-21) and Philly Triple Threat. These Gauchos went through: ARC (49-31), Team Melo (62-41), and Team Wall (68-56) in bracket play. In a tight game that went into overtime our Gauchos came up short at the free throw line in a (58-48) loss to GC Ballers in the championship game.
The 4th grade Young Choz lost a 2 point pool play game to E1T1 (50-48) to put them in the Silver Bracket. Taking on KSK (53-15), VA Playmakers (39-19), Expressions (47-31), to meet WV Burn (35-20) in the Chip. Validating These Young Choz as one of the top teams in this event.
The 8th grade and Coach Tommy proved they are still on of the top teams in the country by marching straight to the final four where they ran into BWSL and a 68-64 L. So much has been said about this team and they don’t disappoint.
