9U Young Choz Blaze Through AAU Nationals for a 4th place finish
Coach D Mitch and our 9U Young Choz ran through pool play in the 2016 AAU Nationals. With victories over DMV Sharks (52-20), New Orleans Finest (44-13) and ELW Future Stars (43-23), our Young Choz were ready to claim their position as on of the best teams in the country.
In bracket play our Young Choz took on Team Triad Hornets in the first round. After a 31-17 victory over Team Triad Hornets they faced Team Loaded. Team Loaded pushed our boys to the limit, but they pulled out a 24-23 win to advance to the Final Four.
Having secured a position as one of the top teams in this National Tournament, our Young Choz faced Carolina Stars Elite. The Carolina Stars Elite proved to be the best team in the Tournament by defeating our Young Gauchos 37-25 and going on to win the 2016 AAU Nationals. In the Consolation game our Young Gauchos again came up short to Team Takeover 34-29, to place forth in this years National tournament.
I have seen our boys back in the gym getting ready to make another march on the 2017 title. When you see: Hassan Powell, Peyton Miller, Ahmad Torrence, Tai Turnage, Tajae Jones, Bernard Bowen III, Jadari Georges and Jayden Almonar give them a big high five for a job well done. They will be the hardest working boys working to get the tittle next year.
